About us
Marian Road Medical is a friendly, modern GP Surgery in Rathfarnham which has been offering a broad array of GP services to patients of all ages for almost 3 decades.
All of our GPs are registered with the Irish Medical Council as Specialists in the discipline of General Practice. This formal accreditation from the Irish Medical Council is granted to Doctors who have completed a recognised vocational training scheme, fulfilled all examination requirements and successfully achieved membership of the Irish College of General Practitioners (MICGP).
A doctor on the ‘Specialist Register’ has completed their training and requires no further training or supervision to practice independently in the specialty of their choice. You can check all Doctors status on the Irish Medical Council website by searching their name and checking their “Registration Type”.
Our team of qualified GPs have a very broad array of skills which compliment each other. In addition to Specialist GP training we have undertaken multiple multiple recognised Diplomas in areas such as Paediatrics and Women’s Health to enhance our skillset further.

The surgery is a purpose built premises located on Marian Road serving patients living locally in Rathfarnham, Templeogue, Ballyboden, Knocklyon and adjacent areas.

At Marian Road Medical we believe that continuity of care is very important. We continually strive to balance the delivery of acute medical care alongside all of the routine scheduled aspects of GP care with a focus on safety and evidence-based best practice.
We hold same-day appointments each day for acutely ill patients. We also work as part of EDoc GP service to ensure our patients have access to acute GP care with appropriately qualified Doctors at evenings, over night and 24 hours at weekends and bank holidays.
We have very strong links with all local public and private hospitals built up over many decades working in the area and a good relationship with Consultant Specialists of all disciplines.

As an academic teaching practice Marian Road Medical strives to deliver the most up-to-date evidence based care to our patients in accordance with local, national and international best practice guidelines.
We are closely affiliated with University College Dublin Medical School and we are involved in the teaching and training of Medical Students as well as qualified Doctors specialising in the discipline of General Practice.
We are participants in the Under 8s GP Visit Card Scheme and anticipate that we will participate in the extension of this care to the Under 12 age group when introduced by the HSE. Please see our New Patients section for further information.
